Myself

3 09 2008

My name is Brian Chalifour and I am from Beverly, Massachusetts. I am a second year mass communication major with a video minor.  I am taking this class not only because I need it for my major, but it will also help me in the future. Writing and communication skills are, in my opinion the most important skills needed in the working world. Whether you use these skills at your job or just use these skills to get the job you want. I read somewhere that a poll was taken among bosses of major corporations and they were asked “what is the most valuable trait an employee can have?” and an overwhelming majority agreed that it was communication skills. I do not see how taking writing courses can be detrimental to me which is why I am in the major that I am.

How writing coincides with my profession

3 09 2008

Although I do not know specifically what my profession may be I do know that it will require solid writing skills. My career choices are either going to be journalism or something to do with film making. It is obvious how writing coincides with journalism. It doesn’t matter if you’re an editor, a writer, or a reporter you are still dealing with writing. Filmmakers and producers also have a great deal of writing that they produce and read. The sketch of every movies is made from a script or an outline, both of which have to be interpreted by film makers, directors, or producers. No matter where I end up I do know they I will require writing skills for my future.
